100 Years of the Frankfurt Kitchen – A Birthday Evening in Cooperation with ÖGFA


In 2026, Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky’s Frankfurt Kitchen—an influential icon in the history of architecture—will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Over the past 100 years, it has been repeatedly reexamined and reevaluated, not least from a feminist perspective. This event is intended to explore these various perspectives and encourage reflection and discussion.

In her diploma thesis, Marianne Eberl developed the “Punkfurter Küche” (Punkfurt Kitchen), a mobile cooking unit based on a shopping trolley – a symbol of consumer society.
Musician and journalist Robert Rotifer, grandson of resistance fighter Irma Schwager, has dedicated a song of the same name to the Frankfurt Kitchen and its architect.
