100 Years of the Frankfurt Kitchen – A Birthday Evening in Cooperation with ÖGFA and Spektakel


In 2026, Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky’s Frankfurt Kitchen, an influential icon in architectural history, celebrates its 100th birthday. One hundred years during which it has been repeatedly re-examined and reassessed, not least from a feminist perspective.
We are celebrating this milestone birthday with an appropriate contextualisation:

In her diploma thesis, Marianne Eberl developed the “Punkfurter Küche” (Punkfurt Kitchen), a mobile cooking unit based on a shopping trolley – a symbol of consumer society. Musician and journalist Robert Rotifer, grandson of resistance fighter Irma Schwager, has dedicated a song of the same name to the Frankfurt Kitchen and its architect.
