From its inception, architect Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky was a member of the Austrian Peace Council and participated in the 1st Austrian Peace Congress, which took place in June 1950 at the Vienna Konzerthaus. From 1975 onwards, she was a member of the board of the Austrian Committee for European Security and Cooperation (KSZE). She remained involved and committed until the 1990s.
