From 26th to 29th of May

The MSL Centre's District Days

MARGARETES MARGARETEN II

The MSL Centre’s district days took place in the last week of May. We would like to thank the Spektakel team for their fantastic, inspiring collaboration, and all visitors for their keen interest and the fascinating discussions. We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Margareten District Council for their invaluable support.

Two venues, one programme
The District Days bring together two key venues in Margareten:

At Hamburgerstraße 14 (Spektakel) – a former home and workplace of Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky – a vibrant exhibition space is taking shape. She spent formative years of her life here and ran her own studio after 1945. Today, the programme builds on this history: We offer insights into their lives and work, and invite visitors to share their own memories, stories and perspectives from the neighbourhood. Through formats such as exhibitions, talks and an oral history lab, the event becomes an open space for exchange.

At the Franzensgasse 16 (Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky Centre), her original apartment can be viewed free of charge.

Together, these two venues open a window between the past and the present – and provide an opportunity to bring memories and stories from the neighbourhood to life.
