Remembering Hiroshima and Nagasaki


Solidarity with women* around the world also means advocating for global peace. We support the international peace movement and welcome the commemorative events in memory of the atomic bombings of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War II. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the US' atomic bombings of these regions. People from all over the world are sending origami cranes to Hiroshima. There, the folded symbols of hope will be hung at the Children's Peace Monument.
 
As architects and committed women*, we work for the future, for education, understanding, and social justice. We stand for a world without war, where people live together peacefully and non-violently, without arms races and without nuclear weapons.

Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky's courageous social stance and her unwavering activism in the peace movement and for anti-fascism continue to inspire us in the 21st century.
